Imagine a world without art and creativity.  For preschoolers this is a huge developmental building block.  Unfortunately some children don’t have access to art supplies.  Julius Jr. and Blick Art Materials have launched the “Donation for Imagination” art supplies drive at six New York Blick stores, running now through December 24. The program encourages fans of Julius Jr., the award winning preschool series inspired by the world-renowned Paul Frank brand, and Blick shoppers to donate new and gently used art supplies to local children’s art non-profits.

I see the pride and excitement in my daughters eyes when she paints a picture and I can’t imagine ever telling her that she couldn’t paint or draw. When I heard about this project I though that it was fitting to write about, especially during the holiday season. What better way to teach our children about giving and being thankful during the holidays then allowing them to help those that are less fortunate.

“Donation for Imagination” was established to inspire creativity in kids by providing art supplies to nonprofit organizations, schools and after-school art programs. 66 Blick stores across the country have donation bins in support of the program, with purchased donations supported by a special 20% discount at all retail locations. Each store will also be working with a local children’s art non-profit to distribute donations throughout their local community. Online donations can be made through Blick’s Art Room Aid website.
