My baby just turned 3 months yesterday. I don’t know how time went by so quickly. I also can’t believe how big she is getting. In just three short months she has grown almost 6 pounds, that’s just about twice what she was at birth. The sagging, wrinkly skin that she had when I took her home from the hospital has filled out and her tiny head, that was once smaller than my hand, is starting to hold itself up with almost no support. The sleepless nights are less frequent and the smiles and coos are heard more often. My little girl is no longer a newborn, she is a baby now. Even though it has only been three months, when I see a newborn baby I can’t even remember that my little lady was that tiny not so long ago.
While in the midst of the newborn phase it seems like it will never pass, but in the blink of an eye your little one slowly starts to explore and gain independence. It starts with a smile and coo and accelerates into grabbing, rolling, sitting, eating foods, crawling, cruising and eventually walking. The tiny being that depended on you for everything in the beginning all of a sudden can do many things on their own, making you yearn for those newborn days.
That’s why you must capture the moments. With my first I never had newborn pictures done professionally and I regret it. Those first two weeks of life are so precious and delicate and need to be captured; they leave just as abruptly as they come, leaving us only the memories of the small, helpless angel we were blessed with. I was fortunate enough to have a college friend who is also a talented photographer, Peachy Cao Photography, capture those moments for me. If you are in the NYC/NJ area definitely check her out. She has a quaint little studio in Brooklyn and an amazing eye for capturing the special moments that you want to hold on to forever. I hadn’t looked at the photos she shot since I got them a few months back and I was amazed to see at how much my little girl has changed, it’s truly incredible. So don’t make the same mistake I did, make sure you get professional shots done when your baby is a newborn, you will be grateful you did when you look back. Below are a few of my favorites from Peachy Cao Photography. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
